Why is protecting nature so important?

Protecting wildlife and their habitats is essential for preserving biodiversity. Through the Butterfly Foundation, Botswana Nomads supports the Wild At Life project. Together, we are making a positive impact in several key areas:

Rescue & Rehabilitation: emergency shelters and medical care provide a safe haven for injured, orphaned or endangered wildlife, including elephants and predators affected by poaching and human-wildlife conflict. The aim is to help them recover and return to the wild.

Biodiversity & Habitats: protecting and restoring natural habitats helps vulnerable species survive and prevents the region’s ecosystems from deteriorating further.

Education & Coexistence: through awareness campaigns and local educational programmes, communities learn how people and wildlife can live together safely and sustainably, helping prevent human-wildlife conflict in the long term.

About the Butterfly Foundation

We offset our CO2 emissions through Greentripper

At Travelbase, we take our responsibility seriously by minimising our environmental footprint, supporting certified climate projects and promoting responsible travel. We also boost the positive impact of our trips through the Butterfly Foundation.

We offset transport emissions by contributing to Greentripper’s climate project.

85% of our trips take place in Europe and close to home.

We work with local, small-scale partners whenever possible.

1% of our profits is donated to charities.
